What this widget is for

Displays connection and storage-server status for TrueNAS.

It belongs to HomeStart’s Homelab & network collection and can be placed on any suitable dashboard page.

Add and set it up

  1. Open the dashboard page where you want the widget.
  2. Choose Add widget and search for the widget name.
  3. Add it, then resize it so its main information is readable.
  4. Open Configure and provide a reachable truenas api url and read-only credential.
  5. Use Test when available, then save only after the connection succeeds.
  6. Refresh once and confirm the widget keeps its settings.

Connection required

A reachable TrueNAS API URL and read-only credential.

Connection secrets are submitted to the HomeStart server and stored encrypted. Use a dedicated read-only credential whenever the provider supports one.

Everyday controls

The widget header provides its title and dashboard controls. Depending on the widget, these can include refresh, full-screen, hide-controls and hide-title buttons. Content-specific controls remain inside the widget.

Use Customize layout to move or resize the widget. Leave layout mode when finished so normal buttons and scrolling work as intended.

Useful advice

Good to know
  • Prefer private LAN or VPN addresses and read-only credentials.
  • Test the connection before saving it.
  • Never expose an administrator panel, exporter or Docker socket publicly just to make a widget connect.

If it does not work

  1. Refresh the individual widget first.
  2. Confirm its settings are complete and still saved.
  3. For connected data, test the provider or private address from HomeStart.
  4. Temporarily make the widget larger to reveal clipped controls or messages.
  5. Record the widget name and exact error before contacting support; never include a password, recovery code or API token.
