What a passkey does

A passkey replaces a typed password with a cryptographic credential protected by your device. HomeStart stores only the public credential—not your fingerprint, face scan or Windows PIN.

Add Windows Hello

  1. Sign in normally and open Account → Security.
  2. Find Windows Hello & passkeys and choose Add.
  3. Complete the Windows security prompt.
  4. Confirm the new passkey appears in your registered list.

Sign in with it

  1. Open the HomeStart sign-in window.
  2. Choose Sign in with Windows Hello or passkey.
  3. Complete the prompt on your computer, phone or security key.

Keep access safe

Good to know
  • Keep your password and recovery email current.
  • Add a second passkey on another trusted device when possible.
  • Remove a passkey immediately if a device is lost.
